WHO WANTS TO LIVE A MILLION YEARS?
2026 Remaster — Swarm Interactive, Inc.

START HERE

This is the complete browser game, including artwork, sounds, lessons,
quiz, biography, glossary, source code and license notices.
Entry page: index.html

INSTALL ON A WEBSITE

1. Extract the ZIP. It contains a folder named
   who-wants-to-live-a-million-years.
2. Upload that entire folder to your website's static/public files area.
Keep every filename, capitalization and subfolder unchanged.
3. Open its index.html through your website, for example:
   https://YOUR-SITE.example/games/who-wants-to-live-a-million-years/
(The example is a pattern, not a working address.)

The game works from a subfolder; it does not need to occupy your homepage.
No database, account, API key, server application, npm installation or
build step is required. Do not upload the ZIP alone and expect it to run:
extract and host the files inside it.

If you use an AI website builder, give it the ZIP and ask it to follow
AI-WEBSITE-BUILDER.txt. Prefer a full-page link to the game. A site can
also embed it with an iframe, preserving all of the game's own files.

TEST THE HOSTED COPY

- Open Intro and Natural selection; complete all three lesson parts.
- With Tutorial on, enter Survival game, choose three beasties, use More
variations, populate the world, and start the simulation.
- At an event stop, try a life preserver, cancel it, then try adding a
variant. Confirm four newcomers and one preserver charge.
- Finish a run, read its recap, rename the creature and try Print story.
- Try Quiz, Darwin's bio, Glossary, and About this project.
- Turn Tutorial off and start a new run.
- Check browser developer tools for missing files or script errors.

BROWSER NOTES

Use a current browser and serve the files over HTTP/HTTPS. Double-clicking
index.html as a local file is not the recommended installation test;
browser file-security rules can differ from normal website behavior.
Some browsers require a click before allowing sound. WebGL is used for
the painted beasties; a Canvas renderer keeps the same painted artwork
visible if WebGL is unavailable or its graphics context is lost. Desktop and larger landscape displays are the primary
layout; check your intended classroom devices before relying on an embed.

The tutorial preference is saved in this browser's local storage. Runs
and quiz results are not saved to a server. Reloading starts over. An
optional first name used for printing stays in the page's memory and is
not uploaded by the game.

OPTIONAL UPDATE NOTICE
When opened, the game makes one short request to Swarm's public version endpoint.
If a newer release exists, a small Update available link opens the download page.
The link is shown only on Intro and the ending screen, away from gameplay and lessons.
The website owner must replace the hosted files to update; nothing installs automatically.
No gameplay data, student names, cookies, or page address are sent by the check.
If the request fails, is blocked, or Swarm's hosting ends, the game continues normally.
To disable the check, remove the update-check.js script tag from index.html.
